Topic 1 - Turtle's First StepsWhen you start Logo the Turtle sits in the middle of the Graphics window.
You enter instructions in the Work window and read any messages or program output in the Text window.
The Turtle moves in turtle units. Tell the Turtle to move forward 50 units with the command:
FD 50
The Turtle moves forward and leaves a black trail.

Now tell the Turtle to move back 50 units back to where it began.
BK 50

Commands like FORWARD, BACK, FD, BK and many others which you will meet are called primitives. A primitive in Logo is a command which is already defined and available for use. You can use existing primitives and you can extend Logo by defining your own.
You can always get the turtle back to the centre of the screen by typing HOME.
You can change the width of the pen with the SETPENWIDTH command followed by a number in the range 1-10, for example: SETPENWIDTH 3.
